Hardy? Hearty? Hardee’s?

Tom Goreau of the Global Coral Reef Alliance (http://www.globalcoral.org) has been preserving and, in some cases, resuscitating natural corals through the use of “biorock,” a technique developed by Wolf Hlibertz in which a trickle charge of electricity into an underwater metal frame accretes minerals out of seawater to produce a kind of natural stone or concrete. Hilbertz and Goreau found that this also helped natural coral grow and that fish seem to enjoy the electric field.

There are videos of Goreau’s work at the Global Coral Reef Alliance (http://www.globalcoral.org) website.
