I think TV and Radio shows have been running these scams for decades, I seem to remember OFCOM in the UK getting quite riled up by them in… the 90’s, 00’s?

Due to a quirk of British tv gambling laws, they have or had a rule that there had to be a free way to enter. I was channel hopping late one night, read the small print at the bottom of the screen and entered for free, online.

I won £40,000, tax free and paid off my mortgage.

Strangely, they stopped broadcasting the show a couple of months later
