I wonder about the context of this film. It seems there were 2 performers. What was their background? Were they vaudeville or burlesque performers? Perhaps, circus sideshow?

I recall that The Great Depression affected Europe as well as the U.S. After a moment’s research, I just learned that 1933 was a bad year in Britain. Were the two performers glad for the work of making this film?
