Wearable device amplifies your reaction time

Absolutely correct. This is well established both by experiment - the nerve impulse to start the motion frequently begins before the conscious impulse - and by study of weird neurological cases. (E.g. with a severed corpus callosum, where the visual field is separated and the non-verbal side of the brain is in control of one side of the body.) If your left hand is moving and “you” don’t know why (because of something visible only via your left visual cortex) you will make up and completely believe a rationalization for it.

If your body moves before you’ve made a conscious decision, you’ll rationalize why you’ve done it as necessary to maintain the illusion that your surface mind is in control.

This is why in almost any competitive sport it’s essential to train yourself to react faster than “you” can think about it. It would not be possible to do something as simple as a forward roll if you had to take a 1/4 second to consciously make up your mind for each movement along the way - you’d probably break your neck.

This is a studied and practiced thing in many traditional martial arts, hence all the apparently mystical-sounding talk about “mushin” (no-mind) and “zanshin” (ready mind) is quite practical. Ultimately you can become aware of it for yourself if you learn to observe carefully.
