$3500 for a “vintage” pair of sneakers? Is everyone crazy these days?

Some say “crazy” others say “shoe futures”.

Didn’t the Beastie Boys used to employ a full-time Sneaker Detective to seek out rare and unusual sneakers?

I think I read that in ID Magazine about twenty years ago.

Some heavy Ship of Theseus action going on here.

They’re 3/4s of the way there! And it seemed a “violation” to use white leather and paint it red. (Although I admit the color match was perfect.) When it scuffs, that will be the first sign the sneaker is a fugazi. But then again, these “restored” sneakers will never see a court.

Thought the same.

At this rate, couldn’t they just build complete replicas of old models?!

I think you remember that correctly

The band takes its name from an article the Beastie Boys published in their Grand Royal magazine about a man they hired to track down classic sneakers.[2]
