Assuming that he knew what anything means was their first mistake.

they did drive a stake into the heart of the federal republic.

The fact all these bozos are not in jail already and are plotting their next move makes it pretty clear they hit their target.

“This”, no matter how you look at it, is an attempted putsch instigated by The Former Guy’s inflammatory rhetoric. Those are the facts and they’re ominous enough on their own.

They’ve been driving a stake into the republic for decades, Trump just offered them a hammer.

Whoever sent this message will have to testify, and that will be a moment of reckoning. We will know what they meant when we see who sent the text, and under oath (hoping it gets that far) they will either say something that endears them to the Q-mob, or something that protects their neck legally.

(And what’s with the South Vietnamese flag in that photo?)

House Freedom Caucus member, afterwards: “When I said it was a stake through the heart of the Republic, I didn’t mean that was a bad thing!”

What Republicans were saying at the time, however, proves that they recognized what was going on, and in downplaying/supporting it afterwards, have switched sides to attack democracy. Which is a whole other ominous development…

“One of the big questions now is, what did they mean by ‘this’?”

They meant the thing that occurred.

It’s a freedom caucus member. They could have easily meant that congress certifying the vote was a stake through the republic.

Some are probably just trying to hold on to power, whatever they need to do, maybe telling themselves they’re keeping it from being worse. But many, if not most, are true believers.

Why is the “lawmaker” anonymous? There’s what, 20 members of the freedom caucus? No, I’m not going to Google that.

Slightly larger. Feed the writing styles of these guys into a neural network, and see if literary detection can identify the seditionist.
