I recently watched Moana for the first time, so now I think that a stingray sounds like the grandmother from that movie.

In Germany, where dogs bark “vow vow”

No. “Wau, wau!” And Wauwau is a synonym for (small-ish) dogs in general.

and both the frog and the duck say “quack,”

Eh, close enough. Frogs go “quaaak”, ducks go “quack-quack-quack”. The technical term is “schnattern”.

the rooster greets the dawn with a hearty “kik-a-ricki.”
“Kikeriki!”

Seriously, David Sedaris just can’t seem to cope since Harry Rowohlt died.

Manta rays don’t have stingers.

But the movie really reinforced what good singers crabs are, which we already knew.

In Finnish kukkokiekuu (literally “rooster crows” [crow as to make the sound of a rooster), dog goes hau, vuh or something, cat goes miau, cow goes ammuu or muu, cuckoo says kukkuu.

Seems less like communication and more like echolocation.

I do a mean rooster imitation, but trying to write it out would never work; it would just be a string of vowels.
