Wow! I just skimmed that thread and others discussing the switch-over. A lot of pissed-off mutants there were, indeed.
Having signed up a year later, I missed all the fuss.

Change is never easy, especially when it involves a significant change in how discussions happened on Boing Boing (i.e., a forum instead of embedded comments on the blog itself).
lets just say a lot of jumping and running is involved, and possibly a murderous ai.

There also seemed like a lot of pushback against the idea of âelevatedâ comments, along with other features of Discourse vs. the blog at that time. I donât pay too much attention to incremental UX changes, but itâs clear that Discourse has evolved significantly since 2013.
