What is a "Bomb Train" and why has the Trump administration legalized them?

The other shoe would be some kind of shield against lawsuits and claims when a populated area is erased.

There is an old Superman novel from the '80s where he has to stop a LNG tanker from exploding in Metropolis harbor. During the rescue he thinks that the only reason LNG is allowed to be transported through populated areas is because the government knows he will be there to save them, and this infuriates him. I guess this proves he was wrong about their motivation.

And, when the Biden Administration misses one of these, they’ll sound like they’re whining. Or, worse, they’ll sound like they’re mimicking the Trump’s repetitive rant that blamed everything on his predecessor.

Biden:
“People! Trump actually did reverse a Democratic-era EPA rule. This wouldn’t have happened otherwise. The previous Administration left us depleted, they left us a mess… Left us… Oh shit-- I sound just like that monster.”

Or just parking it on a slight slope, and not setting the brakes in a failsafe mode.

How convenient to supply the bombs for the terrorists. Now they only have to bring a detonator.

Bomb Train…I think there was a movie about this already

Unfortunately our regulatory provisions for getting another Beirut bomb are also in other than excellent shape.

My initial thought was Lac Megantic, only bigger. But yes.

Sooo…we shouldn’t try and prevent any of those outcomes from happening?

Am I the only one who remembers Atomic Train?

Or maybe I should’ve said: Those who don’t remember Atomic Train are doomed to repeat it. Haha.

Not where I live. The busiest freight track actually goes through or alongside the richest neighborhoods.

Enough! I’ve had it with these monkey fighting bombs on this Monday to Friday train!

Now, we ALL live the wrong side of the railroad tracks!

Let’s hope Dems get full control of the legislature, then. Ask for a list of all regulations changed in the past 4 years and write one bill to reverse them all.

(Yeah, I know it’s not quite that simple, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. The Dems WILL want to have a will to do this, won’t they?)

I just recently saw this leftist podvidcast about that Lac-Mégantic derailment.

It’s pretty good if you like lots of details about both train stuff and the catalog of bad capitalism-caused decisions that enable disasters like this. The tl;dr would be, imagine the train disaster from Atlas Shrugged except that every single fuckup that book imagines being caused by socialism was, in real life, caused by capitalism, in dumber and more evil ways.

PS that accident involved crude oil, which is nowhere near as good of a town-vaporising agent as natural gas.
