Chris Evans looked GOOD in that ugly sweater.
Which brings me to a not-very-smooth segue about Glass Onion:
I FLUV Duke’s mom.
She was my MVP from a cast I loved everyone of. I kind of wished we got a little more of her. (the actress is also lovely in her small role on Only Murders in the Building)
It’s almost like she was born to play that role in OMITB!
Finally watched Glass Onion last night and was delighted to learn it was a not-so-subtle takedown of Elon Musk.
“It’s so… dumb.”
“It’s so dumb, it’s brilliant!”
“NO! It’s JUST DUMB!”
I also loved that Angela Lansbury was one of Detective Blanc’s Zoom buddies trying to keep their minds occupied playing “Among Us” during lockdown. She was credited as playing herself, but I prefer to think that Benoit Blanc actually shares a narrative universe with Jessica Fletcher.
What’s even better is GO wrapped filming in 2021; even before all this egomaniacal shit with burning twitter to the ground happened.
As long as he’s playing darts with Bashir at some point… And Keiko does plant stuff.
And if they have another kid (no. 3), we can have worf as the Midwife again…
As I suggested that GFR is the most unreliable site for nerd news:
Yes! Where’s the daerrrts meme when you need it?
Watched it today as well and i enjoyed it a lot, probably the reason why i enjoyed it more than the first was the takedown of tech bro billionaire mediocrities and their wasteful extravagance. Great use of cameos as well.
Even the “Dong” sound was a cameo by Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Spoilers! But yes, i just read about that. I particularly enjoyed the Serena Williams cameo.
Also their sheer pretentiousness; the constant malapropisms, and all the egotistical posturing as ‘intellectual’:
‘Inbreathiate’; it’s NOT a word. Not a real word; it kind of sounds like one, but it’s just entirely made up."
It’s very quotable, isn’t it?
His dock doesn’t float. His wonder fuel is a disaster. His grasp of disruption theory is remedial at best. He didn’t design the puzzle boxes. He didn’t write the mystery. Et voila! It all adds up. The key to this entire case. And it was staring me right in the face. Like everyone in the world, I assumed Miles Bron was a complicated genius. But why? Look into the clear centre of this glass onion. Miles Bron is an idiot!
Yes, the entirety of the soliloquy is just brilliant; a spot on take down of the megalomaniacal asshole in question.
And again, this was all written & filmed well before the twitter/tesla dumpster fire. That was Rian Johnson’s opinion of him in general.
Not to mention, there’s quite a bit of shade thrown at misogynic ‘manosphere influencers’, crunchy celeb grifters and fake-‘woke’ pols as well.
It is a thing of beauty.
Yeah… innovators, my arse! Anything he or they “innovate” has been bought from way smarter people and claimed for their own. A car on the roof? A car in space? Why? The glass onion is a handy metaphor - many layers, but they’re all transparent and full of nothin’.
cute baby animals
Just finished ep 4 of Willow. Enjoying it more than I thought I would.
What struck me, though, is the quality of the songs over the closing credits.
ep4 was Black Hole Sun by Nouela - haunting and beautiful.
They’ve all been good.
