Fair point. Not my experience, but know folks for whom it’s theirs.
Offline, I tend to go for books (I was rereading C.J. Cherryh’s Foreigner saga recently, but I had to take a break around book 14), crochet, snuggling with my dog, and watching the occasional movie or TV show. Comet’s broadcasting Babylon 5 and it’s been interesting revisiting it after so many years.
Online, I’ve got a few favorite haunts. Io9 is one, as well as its sister site the AVClub. (Splinter and Jezebel help me keep up with current events, but since current events are so stressful, I don’t spend as much time there lately. And yes, I know they’re not exactly objective news, but I do keep that in mind as I read. ) Centsless Books helps feed my book addiction by listing free Kindle titles. I even read some of them, though by now my collection is so huge I’ll never get to them all. I Google crochet patterns and stitches to try, including some great tutorials on YouTube (Sheru Knitting is awesome, but there are others.) I drift in and out of forums about books and authors. (If you’re a Jim Butcher fan, his board moved off his website to Paranet Online, but it’s very slow since Peace Talks got delayed.) For creepypasta I like the SCP Foundation, and for fun I occasionally visit Archive Of Our Own. (Please don’t judge me, it’s not all porn. I like seeing how various authors continue some of my favorite cancelled shows like Firefly or Highlander.)
