How about Nightbreed? Think that came out in 1990.
I re(call/member) downloading its playable demo(nstration) on my IBM PS/2 model 30 286 10 Mhz desktop PC with a 8bit SoundBlaster ISA card. Wow, it was scary and awesome.

Inside the school, there was a door, that after you opened, a baby ghost came at you laughing and after hugging you, it disappeared.
Never played that game again during night time.
