Why designers love the ampersand

Would a monothorpe, or more simply thorpe, be theoretically possible but not found in the wild, like magnetic monopoles? Or could something like :droplet: qualify?

Myself, I use the crossed epsilon.

When I’m typing, I usually write out the whole word β€œand,” but the crossed epsilon is just faster for me than a full ampersand.

I’m working on another, perhaps even more ambitious project to develop a wobbly chair (branded as Wobbly Bottom) based on the ampersand. Check out the full size prototype on the web page, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
