Why It Matters, But It Still 'Doesn't Count'

Yes. I make my children learn use of weapons, but that really doesn’t even come close to solving the problem. And I guess that’s the biggest place where a willingness to stand up doesn’t really “count” for much; if you’re not there, revenge is cold comfort.

But I’m not giving up. I understand that I was raised to be a post-racist person and the post-racialist world didn’t actually happen. Perhaps dead skills and doomed causes are my métier.

That’s why I want people to move into a different cognitive framework. When we use language that inevitably invokes a certain response, 100% of the time, which invokes yet another predictable response, 100% of the time, and so on, and so on, and so on… well, you already posted the .gif. We all lose.

It’s starting to percolate through. S-L-O-W-L-Y. For instance, this progression happened:

Cognitive reframing in a nutshell. Er, sorry about the wacky sizing.

I’m pretty sure someone did that one. Srlsly.

No. Only baseball or soccer.

OK, gotta go, y’all.

Sorry, you only get to make the rules in your own posts.

Neither game gets any play here.

Curling, maybe? Might often be a big glass window 'twixt spectators and game (that’s just to keep the heat and cold where they belong), but I guarantee no fences.

Have you read the story of the evolution of that graphic? It’s a great read if you haven’t.

Hey, thanks! It’s a good read. All credit to Mr. Froehle for the original image, and for his comments on the variants as well.

Given all the googling I did to get the three images I wanted, I’m amazed that I didn’t stumble on that.
