Why students are forced to buy this expensive and obsolete Texas Instruments calculator

And also because calculus is fun.

Well Sex=Fun can be proven, with it anyway.

Newton invented the Calculus in order to better understand mechanics.

consider a constantly accelerating body, such as a falling object in a vacuum.

a = g constant acceleration

v = gt + v0 integral of the above gives velocity as a function of time

x= 1/2 gt^2 + v0t + x0 integral of the abovegives position as a function of time

sure, you could do it with simple algebra, but what of more complex things? Calculus tells the student of physics how all the formulae interact in a simple, logical manner.

To fully understand the higher theory yes, but there should be nothing actual problem solving wise that requires Calculus in Physics 101. Everything you will be working with will be on a scale such that it breaks down to algebraic formulas because in the everyday scale that is more than enough detail. It isn’t till you get really big (planetary bodies) or really small like atoms that it makes a difference. You won’t actually need calculus in Physics till you take the higher stuff and then you won’t need a calculator because you are not working with numbers anymore, just formula and proofs.
