Why we don't commute with helicopters

Oh, yeah, I get all that. I was more or less thinking of something specifically related to D-Storm/D-Shield, looking at availability, sortie rate, flight hours, etc mapped against time, and then relating that to the effect on ops. I know they depended on helos a LOT during the 100hrs, especially to leapfrog 82nd forward a couple of times. And - I assume - the helos were also busy ferrying fuel and munitions forward to the heavy brigades swinging through the desert on the left hook. It’d be interesting to see how whose opns and the plans for them were affected by declining availability.

That would make some neat chart porn.

My first ride in any kind of aircraft was in one of these:

One of my uncles used to commute by helicopter. He did so for at least 10 years after the Pan-Am crash. He did it right up until he retired in the early 90s.
I think few people commute that way because it is expensive, both on a per hour basis, and the fact that you need landing areas and maintenance. But it is pretty cool. We got to take rides in it when we were kids.

“Efforts to revive scheduled passenger helicopter service is periodically revived, but everyone’s failed at it – including future president Donald Trump.”

When do you predict that Donald Trump will become president?

I prefer to see that as a naively optimistic outlook that Trump will become presidential.
