I have a Canon laser printer/scanner (MF232W) and Canon plays the same shenanigans with erroneous toner levels when using other than Canon laser cartridges. Thankfully, my spouse has a very old (reliable) HP LaserJet I can use via our networked computers on the rare occasions I actually print anything (mostly scan these days). Will definitely consider Brother for the next go-round.
