Here it seems to be island-dependent. On some of the neighbor islands you can apparently catch and kill any chicken that wanders into your yard, Here on Oaho there there is a catch 22: if the Chicken is (determined to be) feral, then it is officially protected by our wild bird protection laws. If it is not feral then it gets classified as a domestic chicken, but then it is deemed to be someone’s property, and you are not allowed to kill someone’s property. (I don’t know what the laws are about killing your own chicken.)
