Wuhan already has significant claims to fame.

  • It’s a major industrial center and a growing tech center, especially for medicine.
  • It’s also known for being a very important site for the Maoist struggle in the early days of the revolution.
  • It’s also famous for being one of China’s “five furnaces,” cities that are hot as hell.
  • Wuhan is also known for its cuisine, justifiably so.
  • It’s also somewhat of a college town, so it’s pretty vibrant, and there are significant numbers of foreign people around.

They also have some pretty good local beer, though it’s not famous. Xinyinge. Good stuff. Light and low alcohol content, which is handy when you’re washing down spicy food.
