This is not surprising, and the reason that right-wingers have spent so much effort gaining control of the media. When the op-ed writers have no compunction about speaking in plausible-sounding catchphrases, cherry-picking facts, and outright lying, it’s hard for the average person to come up with counter arguments.
It would be more interesting to expose one of the treatment groups to op-eds from both the right and the left (Bernie Sanders, say), and see if the group’s views shift at all, and in which direction.
I think I just invented the political debate.
