Maybe we need to include Hanna-Barbera in the history of the art, but their animation was absolutely terrible (thought I guess necessary for it to be affordable). Not to mention the Flintstones was an utter ripoff of the Honeymooners.
Their animation quality wasn’t anything close to the classic Looney Tunes or Disney shorts, but those cost-cutting tricks were what made Animation-for-television possible. The idea of a fully animated TV show airing on a production schedule akin to a live-action sitcom was revolutionary at the time; until that point the only cartoons on TV were old theatrical shorts repurposed for broadcast.
It would be nice if the caption for every single photo weren’t “Hunckleberry Hound World’s Biggest Outfit”
