OMG! So that means that most creative artists just want to live a basically comfortable life and allow everybody to see their amazing works?
Sure, psychology supports it, as does experience and science. . . but if it's actually TRUE that means that the entire copyright system would be considered a hindrance if we just provided the basics to our artists!
Wait. . . is that radical, or is the current system stupid?

Independent? Are you kidding yourself? I'm sure plenty of it is funded by Google, a huge multi-national staffed by members of the 1%. And what do they hate? Copyright that gets in the way of their ads. Let's just start with one of these so-called independent folks:
Christopher Buccafusco's web page says, "His research has been supported by grants from Google, the Olin Foundation, and the Batten Foundation."
I'm sure many of the others are going to reward those who butter their bread too. Don't be naive.
