An app to teach kids resistor color code values

I’ve never even heard of these mnemonics. I just learned the standard spectrum colours ROYGBIV and from there adding brown and black was simple enough.

But the colors is PURTY!

I learned the resistor color codes by playing the Level 9 SF adventure game ‘Snowball’. Still one of my all-time favorites.

Ten percent resistors? Are you living in the 1960s? They haven’t made those in 25 years or more.

The resistors that one can purchase today are carbon film, which tend to be within 2% for the 5% variety. I sometimes match them to < 1% when needed for a quick project, when I have a bag of 50 at hand.

I’ll take your word for it. Shows how long it’s been since I’ve done repair with anything but parts out of the junk bin… And matching is a somewhat different question from precision to stated value.
