It’s not all that surprising, those Vikings went every-frekin-where. Surprised they didn’t find a longboat on the moon.

The arabs and the portuguese merchants too.

The Long Ships with Sidney Poitier and Richard Widmark: Vikings looking for a golden bell in North Africa, a regular Sunday afternoon film in the 1970’s

I would love to see Vikings the TV show tackle the failed push into the America’s and the battles with the Native Americans. Probably one of the few times the Vikings encountered a group of people more fierce than themselves, and it would be interesting to see some of the overlap of the two cultures that had developed in different parts of the world.

Also found were a pair of cat-sized boots and a guitar case.

There is a movie called Pathfinder about a viking boy raised by native americans. Eventually he fights the raging norsemen.

Also found in a Viking-age site was a 6th century Buddha figure, a coptic ladel from Egypt and an Irish crozier.

It wasn’t unusual back then for Vikings wanting to make a name for themselves and some cash to serve a tour or two in the Varangian Guard down in Byzantium Constantinople Istanbul . Got about a fair bit, them lads.

How long before the US claims this as justification for occupying terrorist Norway?

I thought there was a movie floating out there similar to what I was talking about. Still though, it would be cool to bring that story to light, most people think that the first sea travelers to set foot on America were the Pilgrims or Columbus.

Great, now you tell me! I didn’t know that lust had to be for anything specific. I had assumed that it was merely positing a philosophy of all-purpose acquisitiveness.

Now I wonder if the woman in the grave was an Arab.

Well, we haven’t thoroughly explored the moon.

Ouch, 11% on RT. Still, the cast parties were probably good.
