Elegant, cheap, simple folded cardboard mount turns your phone into an Oculus Rift

If they allow you to choose where the screen is, yeah.

One of the problems I had when I last tried the cinema apps for the Rift was that using them while lying down just makes you stare at the ceiling. I don’t recommend turning tracking off to fix that either, as head movements not affecting the image (or more accurately, counter-rotation of the eye not causing the image to remain stationary) is generally a good way to make yourself vomit.

And my giant head of ~24" circumference around the eyebrows hasn’t been a problem. Giant glasses might be, but if VR takes off in a serious way then you should be able to get lenses for your specific prescription. If your interpupillary distance is greater than about 72mm then you might have trouble getting a good image in both eyes at once. Not sure what can be done there. Custom lenses again, maybe.

Is this from the Fov2Go team? Because they already made this a few years ago. Attribution…

Good to see Google innovating! Saw this called the Oculus Thrift which was funny, anyway for those who might just want to play with Cardboard and not build your own check out Dodo Case.

Also there’s some very cool applications that already have content for VR headsets - check out the im360 player on iOS or Android - it has a tonne of 360 video with a 3D mode for head mounted displays.
