More in a 2009 Cory post:
Rebecca from EFF sez,
You may have seen the new anti-copying educational program the Copyright Alliance is promoting to the nation's teachers.

The MPAA's catchphrase "Downloading is Mean!" is an example of what I'd call simplifaction - a portmanteau of 'simplify' and 'putrefaction' - basically one step beyond oversimplification. Then again, the US media barons just want you to stop copying (and probably remixing and format shifting) and buy more.
If the Tumblrsphere were producing this, the catchphrase would probably be "Not crediting the creator is mean!" which is probably more realistic, but rather unwieldy. "Crediting is Cool!" maybe?
