These joke generators can come back to haunt people. A good example was the SciGen joke computer science paper generator that the authors created to show that the peer review system at some conferences was lacking. Except that later on some unscrupulous users actually managed to get some generated papers accepted to conferences and journals not to prove a point, but just to get the publications on their CVs. I could see this happening here with some generated patent applications actually being accepted.
