Yeah compared to growing up in southern Missouri and living in Chicago, Seattle is essentially bug free.
If you’re really dying for mosquitoes I invite you to hike to Spray Park on Mt. Rainier as soon as it melts out. Nice alpine meadows full of avalanche lilies and so many mosquitoes. I’ve never had so many bites, and the DEET, it does nothing.
tl;dr version: it’s not warm enough, and there’s not enough stagnant water, the two things that mosquitoes really like when it comes to breeding lots.
