The reason we saw such a large swarm is because they stopped to feed on other insects along the way, …

not fond of “other insects” like mosquitos, horseflies, midges, wasps, stinkbugs…? then call 1-800-555-dragonfly. they and their spider coworkers will clean them out in a jiffy.

I’m pretty sure this is more a thing-I-didn’t-know-I-needed-on-my-bucketlist than apoclypse…

Dang, this is neat. I wish I could experience it. The best I get is maybe half-a-dozen buzzing around me in my backyard during breeding season. I find it actually annoying that people were freaking out about it.

Ohhhh. . . that was our beach when I was growing up. Lotta nice memories.

I do remember seeing some big dragonflies, which used to freak me out as a kid (they look menacing if you don’t know better, but that video looks pretty cool.)

Totally agreed. I love skeeterhawks as much as I hate mosquitoes. Having Type-O blood makes me particularly tasty to mosquitoes. And not only do dragonflies eat annoying bugs, they’re awesome fliers. Beautiful creatures. My favorite insect.
