Mobyvids were always good for catching the “too many pills” vibe.
My favourite '90’s vid:

It’s like a five-minute version of Memento.
Bratmobile : Gimme Brains
the concerts are so so great
(Reptile Youth: Speeddance)
Feeling somewhat nostalgic in a blues rock sort of way…
Blodwin Pig - Dear Jill
West, Bruce and Laing - Backfire
They are fun.
(ABBY: Streets)
Misuk, the only way Brecht’s poetry is tolerable*.
* but The Threepenny Opera can be very fine
(Misuk: Solidaritätslied)
Walter Benjamin had a weak spot for him and never even heard the lines set to music … as far as I know. @Mindysan33?
I don’t know… The play came out in Berlin in 28, so they all would have still been in Germany, so it’s possible he heard it… But they were certainly contemporaries and would have been more than aware of each other’s work…
Not sure that’s helpful!
VERY helpful … and interesting. I must fight the urge to switch up my reading this afternoon though.
Dunno, Eisler’s setting of Solidarität I don’t much care for, but some of his collaborations with Brecht in the Hollywood Songbook are great. Eisler was one helluva composer.
