1,000ish pop songs with some repeats & covers, searchable by performer & title

Also in my 40s, and I still must rely on more musical friends to guide me. I’m a text-o-phile and have learned to love music more.

Nothing wrong with text / literature. It’s all communication on some level.

Do you get to do percussion very often?

It’s a back pocket sort of thing these days. I’ve spent a silly amount of money to get my hands on cymbals that are no longer made. I’ve played with some quirky folks that were very talented but not commercially viable. Occasionally someone asks me to sit in and jam with them. Not so much I guess?

That sounds like a description of all the fun groups.

What’s the story on your cymbals? Did you find some or commission some cymbal hacking?

Bought prototypes. (They have stamped numbers on them.) Since I’m rambling about this, if you know anyone with a 9" LP ice bell that is forged but not polished, I’d give a t******* to get one.

That sounds really wonderful, and I have no idea. Ice Bell.

You triggered a memory of running around the music store when I was very young and encountering the cymbals display.

One never knows. I’ll stay (ahem) attuned for a 9" LP Ice Bell that is forged, but not polished.

But why not polished?

Ruins the sound. The early ones were clangy, the polished ones are pingy.

Aren’t we supposed to be dropping songs in this thread?

That’s a stick on a cymbal stand / ride cymbal. :stuck_out_tongue: (And possibly a bottle. I wasn’t there.)

ETA: (Just watched the video, the resonance is entirely wrong for a hi-hat stand even though that’s what is shown in the video. I suspect it was a stand with a heavier cymbal on it)

The Housemartins - Happy Hour.
(Am I going to keep coming up with reasons to post this video? All signs point to Yes.)
