I for one find it completely believable how the opposition politicians are all guilty of financial crimes and tax evasion. It’s almost uncanny.

Given the level of corruption in Russia, it’s very plausible they are all guilty. Of course, so are members of the ruling clique, but that’s how the system works: as long as you are loyal your crimes are ignored, but there is a file, and should you become a problem that file will be used against you.

Being too honest will stop your career early on. No one trusts a man they have no dirt on.
