Over 3 years ago. Still relevant.
BYO Claritin.
That’s how I know pollen isn’t Antifa dust. Antifa dust wouldn’t make me sniffle or give me headaches like pollen does.
FUCK. THIS. SHIT.
Seriously. We all know that “cruelty IS the point”, but got fekkin’ dammit! No words…
Self disclosure: I am an amputee (BKA right)
This is an unconscionable act of disgusting cruelty to deprive another human being the basic dignity to stand on his own two (prosthetic) legs.
I. Can’t. Even.
FTP.
Fuck them ALL.
PIGS GONNA PIG.
Same as it ever was, I suppose.
“Hello, fellow pigs! What say we go kick the crutches from under them gotdamn cripples! HAR! That’ll be a laugh!”
Again, I say, F.T.P.
every god damn one
A lot of the cases of police violence against Black people is also police violence against the disabled. The intersectionality is huge. Racism is the biggest factor (especially when you add in the disparity of medical treatment for Black people and White people), but the cops and the system have always had disabled people in their sights.
Roger that! Never in dispute from me. The racism, classism, ableism and outright misogynistic hatred toward half (and more) of population is the standard marching orders to the PIGS.
As inconveniencing as my “disability” is, I am still a white male and I honestly do recognize what that means for my opportunities afforded me in my career, even in my (sometimes adversarial) interactions with police. I do know just how different those interactions go for POC and others even more broke-ass than I was back then (living in mixed, socio-economicly depressed areas as I did, I saw first hand just how differently “others” were treated. I cannot abide and spent many a night - or week - in county for not abiding. Read: staying out of it).
No human being deserves this inhumanity. I will stand, or kneel and actually work to change the minds of my less enlightened neighbors - as difficult a challenge that may be, given my “neighborhood”.
And thank you, you make the point quite well and my (somewhat self-serving) reply was not necessary. Thanks for the indulgence, I hear you and am trying to amplify that same message right here at home. (Home being Florida-da, you must know it is an uphill climb.)
This reminds me of stories about TSA agents and abuse of authority:
“ Fired Wilmington cop: “We are just going to go out and start slaughtering them f—— ni—–. I can’t wait. God, I can’t wait.”
I’m about two and a half episodes in on a podcast miniseries by Behind the Bastards focusing on the origins and history of Western policing. Some of the history I knew already, some I didn’t. (Did you know that the etymology of “Sheriff” comes from “Shire Reev,” meaning a local magistrate who may or may not have spent his days smoking pipe-weed and regarding traveling dwarves with hostile suspicion? I didn’t!)
Definitely an eye-opener on the “how did we get here?” front; given the systems our modern police forces grew out of it would be shocking if they weren’t committing horrifying acts of violence and racism on a daily basis.
This victory is a reflection of the huge impact of the protests for Black lives since George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police. This uprising has opened up a discussion in the labor movement about kicking out the International Union of Police Associations from the national AFL-CIO. The King County Labor Council’s vote appears to be the first labor body to take this step since George Floyd’s murder.
Seattle DSA believes the labor movement needs to stand 100% against racism and with the movement for Black lives. As socialists, we understand that the police are a fundamentally racist and anti-labor institution that protects the “law and order” of the ruling class.
Only Slacktivist could create an analogy – and a good one – between knock-knock jokes and persecuted police hoaxes:
Don’t read the comments if you value your sanity, but this one was pretty good:
It’s a good retrofit, actually: the million lights of fireflies as they’re boating through the bayou is a favorite scene of ours, and would translate nicely to a flume ride.
