85-year-old stabs wife to death after fight over pancakes

Yep. My wife has dealt tangentially with dementia patients for almost fifty years. Help is often not as available as is should be. A lot of family members put off seeking help, thinking they can deal with dementia, until they can’t.
And while aggression is fairly common (advanced dementia patients spend most of their time frustrated and confused), a small number patients do become extremely violent, and that can come entirely without warning. My wife told me about one case in which a woman was placing her husband in a home because he had attacked her. She was just devastated. “He was always a good husband. It’s like he’s a different person. He’s not the man I married.”
