9 dead in gun massacre at church

Fox is already spinning this as an “attack on Christianity.” Because racism is over, you see.

I’ve dismissed nothing. I have no idea how involved he was in any group. I assume he at least was on some forum some where. It is possible that he was under orders to go kill people. It is also possible no one told him to do it, but he came to the decision on his own.

But to be clear - hes he is a racist scum bag.

Yes any organization with his views or supporting his actions are scum bags too.

That spin came from the pulpit and was repeated by Fox news. Preachers all over the country are saying it.

I am not going to defend this guy with a 10 foot pole. But that is a valid point that many times criminals are seen as victims of the their environment etc and should be pitied. I see what you’re saying.

But again, not going to defend this guy.

Native Americans sorta got hit with it first, didn’t they? I guess it technically wasn’t America, then.

I surely haven’t defended him.

But not shitting on him enough, that’s plenty to put a target on me today. Love days when BBS gets like this. Of course it’ not people overpersonalizing their fears and lashing out. no no. It’s totally that reminding everyone that he is human is the same as helping him evade the law, rather like the racist I must be. Heh. Love days like this.

You confuse the law with those who enforce it.

That looks like a very traditional bowl cut to me. Which means a friend or relative, or (if he can keep the bowl in place with one hand while he cuts with the other hand) himself.

Kind of ironic it makes him look like a medieval monk, since they were often educated, tolerant sorts…

Yes, but to be fair, you can make the claim that most people are average unless demonstrated otherwise. You are not saying anything that requires a higher standard of proof, or clinical expertise to understand. If you told me he might have been depressed, fine, a certain non-trivial number of adults are, but its relevance to the conversation is limited, because again: A non-trivial percentage of the population is depressed. Then we get into what the symptoms of depression are, and whether they cause a sufficient empathy-gap to limit culpability. “Mentally ill” is huge category and assertions that he was or was not mentally ill are not relevant to a discussion unless proven relevant to the discussion. I was mentally ill while speeding a few years ago because I couldn’t find my way to the zoo. True? Yes. Relevant? No. My friend who has OCD was an asshole to me once. Her OCD was not the issue there. Someone who has psychopathy or a personality disorder may do shitty things. Is it relevant in all those cases? It remains to be seen.

(I know you understand this, I’m simply elaborating for the benefit of others who still don’t see that mental illness is neither here nor there, especially with the startling lack of specificity as to which mental illness they seem to think can make this happen.)

This is a burden of proof issue, not an expertise issue. But, to satisfy that burden, being an expert is necessary in this case. Likely using information we don’t have yet.

How so? Like the other crimes you listed, it is a matter of intent, which is why with those crimes some effort is at least made to establish just what a perpetrators intent was. But since “terrorism” is constructed as a sensationalist umbrella, this isn’t done. It seems like common sense that people are generally afraid of crimes being committed against them, but this in no way automatically implies that this fear is obviously the purpose of these crimes.

Just curious – white ones, or black ones? And if either or both, why are preachers who recognize this as a racist hate crime being ignored?

No. These are not things. Not in our country for sure. Fuck.

If you have to reassure us twice that you’re not defending him, maaayyyybbbeee you should rethink what you’re saying.

Nobody has to reassure you. That’s your projection.

I do find it interesting, especially recently, all the black mentally ill people being shot dead by police as being justified. And a white person’s shooting rampage against black people is also justified, in that everyone coming to his defense because he could possibly be mentally ill. Thanks for giving him a good defense strategy.

I love how that picture appears to show that dead-eyed crep emerging from a slimy green swamp.

The only people forgetting that he’s human are the ones pushing the “lone wolf, mentally ill” defense, who want to complete erase how this guy wasn’t just acting out because he was sick, but rather because he had ideas that were taught and reinforced by our society, and desperately want to distance themselves from him in any way possible instead of actually looking at the causes of why people think that way.

So far I have personally herd 5 preachers say it. 4 where black the other was on the radio so who knows. This was from channel hopping during lunch so it’s in no way meant to be representative.

Do you know of any preachers saying it was a hate crime and are being ignored? I’m at a loss as to what your point is other than the fact you hate Fox.

Yes. These are things. Nation of Islam, Nation of Yahweh, New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, The Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ, United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors. All in the U.S. All black supremacist organizations.
Try looking up your lies before you post them. Fuck.
