Will China lead the way to salvation for US coal miners?
While the US sits around with it’s thumbs in it’s ass while coal miners wonder where their next paycheck is going to come from or where their next vote is going, the Chinese have stepped up and offered a logical solution to the miners problem. They are offering what the US should be offering to every single miner in the country - re-training.
There does exist programs which retrain workers in Appalachia for energy or higher end manufacturing jobs.
Trump is defunding it of course. At least, last I heard.

Perhaps a foreign country stepping up their influence inside the US will create pressure for homegrown programs. Oh wait, government programs.
