A golden anniversary that's anything but golden

in honor of the 50th anniversary of the kerner commission’s report on the race riots of the 60s, here is a great story explaining what it was and how it came to be–

i read the report about 20 years ago and it was dynamite. truly an amazing document to have been produced by a mostly white, center-right, committee. so many of the societal pathologies they warned against have come true it is almost more amazing that the cities of america haven’t burned to the ground. if you want to read the original report itself you can find an online version here–> https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015000225410;view=1up;seq=7

despite the dated language (who uses the term “negro” anymore), this reads like something from last summer or next summer.
