A thread of our own- misogyny (Part 1)

Larry Elder follow up:

“ Elder’s former fiancée, Alexandra Datig, accused him of abuse. Datig, a longtime former radio producer for Elder, were engaged from 2013 until 2015. Datig said that Elder had demanded she show devotion by having “Larry’s Girl” tattooed on herself and, during an argument, brandished a gun in a threatening manner.[67] After Datig’s allegations became public, The Sacramento Bee editorial board and fellow candidates Kevin Faulconer and Caitlyn Jenner called for Elder to withdraw from the race.[68] Elder has denied Datig’s accusations.[64]

In 2011 episodes of his radio program, Elder said that he had twice been accused of sexual harassment, denying both allegations. In one case, Elder defended himself by implying that the woman was too unattractive for him to sexually harass, saying “If you had seen her, you would know that the picture would be a complete defense. I’m just saying.”[69]

I wish I bought more games specifically so I could not buy Tripewire. Good on Shipwright for severing ties.
Anyone who supports the Texas abortion bill is a mysongist. Full fucking stop.

The day ending with “y” in the age of unending patriarchy? At this point, my disbelief is long gone.

A federal court on Sunday declined to block a Texas law (S.B. 8) banning abortion at six weeks of pregnancy. Before the ban takes effect on Wednesday, abortion pill advocacy group [Plan C](file:///C:/Users/Carrie/Documents/plancpills.org) and Progress Texas drove a mobile billboard truck around West Texas for three days to educate people about how they can access abortion pills online.

“As Texas increases restrictions on abortion care, we’re here to let folks know that abortion pills by mail are a safe and effective alternative,” said Francine Coeytaux, co-director of Plan C.

No need to fear, fair maidens, brave Sir Abbott shall rescue your virtue!

My brother suggested this will occur by redefining “forced or coerced sexual contact” as tomfoolery or some such. Poof! Rapists eliminated!

Huh, if it’s so easy, why is it taking so long? /s
10 years ago they passed a law requiring they get rid of the backlog of untested rape kits.

And last year, they still had a bunch sitting on shelves…

But you’re probably right, changing a couple definitions will be way easier :disappointed:

We’ll ‘Eliminate’ Rapists

Man, I hope he suffers much before his life is over.

Evil fucker.

Yes. They’ll make the law say that it’s not rape if you’re on a date, or married to the person, or a little tipsy, or wearing revealing clothing, etc. etc.

Thereby not actually doing a damn thing about prevalent sexual violence against women.

That guy should be banned from ever sending a picture of himself to anyone. Any kind of picture. There should be a law.

Gov. Greg Abbott wants to eliminate rape. More than 90% of sexual assault cases in Texas are never reported.

For the state to identify rapists, victims of the criminal act must come forward. Historically, the majority of victims have not.

Texas rape statistics show women are often victims, rarely report

According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, which describes itself as the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the nation, one in every six American women has been the victim of rape or attempted rape. Three percent of men have experienced this, too.

Gosh, I wonder if that means our gubner and the State of Texas have any plans re the “justice deferred = justice denied” backlog of rape kits that still need processing for people who do report…

Exactly.

Still, there are a few happy mutants out there who are apparently unhappy about Gubner Abbott and they are prepared to engage the public in the digital space:

Oh my.

The quiet part out loud, surely, in any trial or legal proceeding Under His Eye.
