If the law is upheld, the state could very well pursue civil and criminal charges, but the idea that any asshole off the street can sue their neighbor for doing something that has no effect on them personally is not going to stand. That would set a precedent that would allow anyone to sue anyone for anything.
This thread, by this doctor⌠gets real:
Or maybe this shot at home from Elliott Erwitt.
Thanks, yes, I too was thinking of one in which sheâs reading. She was apparently much smarter than sheâs widely remembered as being.
Yes. To all of the above. As intended. Assholes all the way down.
No words.
Jesus wept.
Warning: this article is 100% upsetting but misogyny (and so much more) is at the very heart of this FUBAR situation.
Yet another in a long line of male director and/or producer changing things at the last minute without warning the actress that things are going to get much more dangerous and mentally horrific:
Reminds me of the better way that Barry Jenkins handled potentially traumatic roles.
In order to ensure a safe and open environment for the handling of the difficult, often visceral subject matter, he recruited Kim Whyte, a mental health counselor based in Georgia. Whyte has provided counseling services and support for the military, schools and community groups.
Said Jenkins of Whyteâs involvement, âI didnât want these images, even as we were unpacking them, to unpack us.â
Whyte said she was grateful for the trust Jenkins gave her: âI couldnât find a model before me in terms of being a mental health counselor on a set. Barry allowed me to interact with everyone on the set. He didnât put up any barriers and he encouraged everyone to utilize me. He allowed me to interact with them after takes, in between takes.â
Making the show so it doesnât undo the creator is one thing but what about the viewer? Five episodes in and the unremitting cruelty is undoing me. I wouldnât want any of it toned down by any means but viewers should proceed with caution before starting it.
This is why I try to find some comedy, games, or other mind bleach before watching things like this. Iâm still recovering from that Amazon series, Them. My goal is to make sure the same thing doesnât happen with this show or Exterminate All the Brutes. Iâm not sure why all this content seems to be coming out around the same time and overlapping each other, either. It was one thing spending years reading about this, and itâs another to see it on the screen in so many mini-series, shows, and movies.
Agreed; with too much saturation, it ends up being trauma porn, and I am NOT here for it.
It is shocking, shocking, I tell you, that women, even teenaged ones, have breasts! And sometimes their clothing does not entirely conceal this horrific fact! This must be addressed immediately, or boys will be irrevocably scarred! (/s, so much /s, and yet not so sure some would take that seriously.)
The part that really got me was that none of the boysâ pics were altered for âmodesty.â Not even the swim team ones where they wore only speedos. But I donât know how they treated the girlsâ sports photos either.
Regardless, body shaming in action.
Yeah, Iâve seen the first episode. Itâs great, but also doesnât pull any punches. The honesty is brutal too, as it was in Peckâs I Am Not Your Negro.
Iâm not sure why all this content seems to be coming out around the same time and overlapping each other, either.
Maybe a lot of such things got greenlighted last summer? Because of white guilt, or at best, some white people at least temporarily finding their conscience?
Oh, Lord, there are many photos of me in Speedos out there. Modesty was definitely optional with those. Yeah, that is a point that should certainly be raised with the asshats who made this decision.
ETA: And Bobo makes this exact point in the thread.
What an unconscionable, cruel, sick thing to do to someone who is already probably feeling terrible
