I have a neighbour who does this; puts up prank posters. He put up one for “Lost Cat; named Stripey. Doesn’t meow much, but good at climbing trees” with a picture of a raccoon. His most recent ones are for a “bath towel sharing group”, and one for “Wood for You”, which could be a service for firewood, or … He likes to keep things as ambiguous as possible.
This artist Alan Wagner responsible of some of those funny ones you’ve probably seen shared on social media (and often uncredited, confusing commenters trying to figure out if they’re real)

The “coyote mistaken for a dog” joke is the main one I’ve seen locally. But the vast majority of people seem to understand that it’s a joke.
