Adidas posts "Gas All Jews" tweet after turning account over to hashtag-parroting ad bot

The lesson of Boaty McBoatface is that given the opportunity, the internet will ruin naming something or be defaced by trolls.

I dunno I thought Boaty McBoatface was pretty awesome. They even named one of the small attached research craft that just because it was awesome.

It was at least silly and “fun” instead of “horrific”. But it showed that “people” can’t be trusted.

The marketers never learned from Hank The Angry Drunken Dwarf back in the early days.

Liverpool has a large Irish and Welsh population too, which also makes the city a target for English nationalist hatred.

I’m sure they just consider it a temporary platform until one day they are finally able to skip past all the “bullshit” and implant the urge to buy their crap directly into our nervous systems. In the meantime, they’re using Trump Twitter tactics: just get the name out there. Good or bad. Doesn’t matter. Keep it in circulation.

History across the board has shown that “people” can’t be trusted. Small pox blankets, anyone?

The general public is generally horrible. Don’t believe that? Work in food service for awhile.

Anything turned over openly to the public like this with no degree of moderation is going to summon forth the trollies.

Oh, FFS. I know better than this and I’ve never even had a Twitter account. If the average person off the street can do your company’s internet marketing better than the “specialists” you assigned to it, maybe it’s time to fire them… and yourself.

I feel like it reflects equally poorly on Twitter’s sainted Algorithms if usernames as facepalmingly-offensive as “gasalljews” can make it through a username check.

Nah, that’s 64K

Around 1990 I bought land in the Hillsborough housing estate in Australia, which I presume commemorates that event.

Is there any evidence that anything other than this is happening anywhere?

that Gas All Jews thing is noticeably printed as a player name on an Arsenal shirt. Arsenal have a fierce rivalry with fellow North Londoners Tottenham Hotspur, a club historically known for its sizable jewish fan base. So I’m guessing we have one from a very very small minority of fucked up fans on the bots case. This all is made even stupider by the fact that today Arsenal probably have as large a jewish following as Spurs do.
