@Deidzoeb: Martin’s father-in-law was the head of Southern Baptist Carson-Newman College in Tennessee, a fellow by the name of Alfred E. Newman who looked much like our cultural icon. Newman did not mind the gentle satire of his religious optimism but a couple of relatives eventually sued and won minor damages. This came from a Martin relative.

Mad was a staple of my childhood and teen years and an involuntary contributor to a couple of firings for insubordination. Viva “Snappy Answers”!
