I have to confess that I read that post and forgot about it.
At first, yes, but I don’t think that’s true for the whole gestation period. At 22 weeks preterm birth has about 6% survivability.
Two MALE doctors
“And they dwell then in Limbo… a cold, white space, with the gentle hum of a pump as the only noise… and the light does out every time you close the door.” From the Gospel According to St Wingnut.
They’re also the size of a pickle. What’s your point? Might survive if hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of intensive medical care are thrown at them is hardly something to refute “fetuses are not human beings”
Rep Rehensible, “What’s wrong with you nerds?! When we pour scorn on your favourite authors, you get all passive aggressive. When we follow their writings, you call foul!”
Not so much part of your body as stealing all its resources from your body in a process fine tuned over millions of years to probably not kill the mother.
Pregnancy is NOT a benign condition and the fetus is NOT a polite guest.
(sorry, off topic. I really hate how 'balancing the life of the baby against the risks of the mother" completely ignores all of the risks of the mother)
When the Alabama Supreme Court is being relied on to protect abortion rights, we might be in some trouble.
Jesus, you’re spot on. They’re limbering up their wagging fingers now to tell us how overturning
Roe is liberals’ fault because they’ve made politics so divisive.
I’ve noticed this scary thing happening in the age of trump: it used to be that people would see laws and legal precedent and assume a standard was set. Now the right is daily pushing ahead in spite of laws and legal precedent. From ignoring subpoenas, to executive orders that violate human rights and the constitution, to state laws like this. They are like dogs that just realized the trainer isn’t watching and they can get away with doing whatever they want.
Ya, I could have been more clear, my sincere apologies for the confusion I was trying to say:
Fuck this whole debate, there is no debate, we are not debating if people have control over their own bodies. Of. Course. They. Fucking. Do.
I don’t want to live in a theocracy. Draconian limits like this are an affront to civil liberties. I heard this was a plan to get it challenged and present an opportunity for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade. Which really should not be happening.
Also, you want to reduce abortions, make contraception in all forms free and available. From the pill, to condoms, to IUDs, to vasectomies, etc.
Why?
Or a case where a woman dies needlessly because she couldn’t have an abortion that would have saved her life.
Wait for it, it’s coming.
Ah well, that will be the doctors’ fault of course. Nothing to do with the legislators /s
A penis is the anatomical equivalent of a gun, therefore cannot be regulated. It’s in the Constitution!
That’s why they wrote it that way. It actually has a good chance of succeeding despite the abhorrent nature of the law.
Alabama Assholes.
But I’m being redundant.
It’s not a debate anymore. It’s about power. They aren’t even bothering to debate except as a token show. They have power and they are re using it. It’s terrifying.
This part never makes sense to me. I mean, it makes political sense. But it doesn’t make logical or ethical sense. If abortion is the murder of a human being with all the rights of any other human being, and if a woman knowingly engages a doctor to “murder” her “baby,” why isn’t she punished?
If she hired someone to kill her neighbor, she would be.
Is it because the legislators don’t have the guts to go all the way with this? Is it that they believe women are all basically children who can’t be criminally culpable? Is it that they don’t actually believe abortion is murder?
