All the wild anti-vax propaganda is working

I think the anti vaxxers deep down believe that it won’t happen to them. So I’m not sure this will work as well as one would hope.

A german scientist just phrased it like “Every unvaccinated person is a variant factory waiting to happen.”

For me we have 2 problems here, education and a missguided idea of free speach.

Someones unfounded, uneducated rants are not as valuable to a discourse as positions of specialists in the field.
But under the wrap of “freedom of speach” every fringe position is given a soapbox eleviating it to a hight it isn’t worth and nobody calls the ‘idiots’ out for what they are.

As general education seemingly plumets, the group of idiots grows, more fuel to the fire.

Add in ‘social media culture’ and you have a communication pattern where the loudest, absurdest populist that denies discours wins and the reasonable, facts based, following priciples of logic and reasoning will loose.

EDIT: Corrected an assload of typos and noticed I shouldn’t type long texts on mobile.

Let’s call a spade a spade here: we are not talking about anti-vax propaganda; we are talking about pro-COVID propaganda at this point.

Segregation. Or a variation of #2. For Medicare and Medicaid, perople unvaccinated without cause aren’t elegible. Private insurance could rank up prices on unvaccinated people too.
Next vaccinated people could use public transportation and access venue for vaccinated people. Unvaccinated people got unvaccinated bus and restaurants and zone. I suppose that some unvaccinated people will like it. By the way I see that no vaxxers are happily self-segregating themseves now.

I’m not going to search for the link because screw that, but I remember seeing an interview with some Trumpers in, I think, Oklahoma at the time, and they were all vehemently against getting the vaccine, and when they were told Trump got it, one of them said “I don’t care. He’s just an east coast liberal anyway. He was just better than the alternative.”

It actually breaks my heart to watch people falling for conspiracy and lies. It’s been covered many times in boing boing comments, but my feeling is that many of these “fools” are victims of a gutted US education system, manipulated by a racist, religious plutocracy into being agents of some truly strange shit.

But even leaving that aside, there are many unvaccinated folks who would, politically at least, be counted as “our people”. They have good excuses for the most part, but COVID doesn’t give a shit whether you are Democrat or Republican.

Biological warfare against people they do not like and those sufficiently loyal enough to die for their cause.

Get rid of the source of the disinformation. The U.S. Government should sue Fox news into oblivion, and any other network who spreads deadly or innacurate health information.

Make it a law to require businesses to check for vaccine status at all points of entry and deny service to anyone who isn’t vaccinated.

Big penalties for lack of compliance; MASSIVE penalties for vaccination record fraud.

It’s not forcing vaccination, but it’s dangling a beautiful carrot in front of the unvaccinated to just get the jab, already.

the us supreme court is too attached to notions of religious freedom to permit these suits to stand.

WH just today announced that they are going after misinformation superspreaders on social media. I’m not sure there will be any teeth to whatever they’re proposing, though.
