America can only go to war against Iran if it reinstates the draft

I dunno guys, but isn’t a land war in Iran one of the possible contingencies we’re building Space Force for? All we’ll have to do is fire the lazers. /s

That would indeed be a most splendid mistake for him to make.

Wherever he is, Islamist-extremist heaven or hell, Ayatollah Khomeini must be looking up/down at this and stroking a helluva hard-on right now.

Not to say that various Republican figures aren’t doing the same. I figure Democratic figureheads are just cuddling up to their piggy banks.

I’m assuming you meant to quote me. Yes, the US Government can only conscript through legislation that would have to pass the Democrat controlled House before Yertle the Turtle Mitch McConnell could attempt, were he so inclined, to shove it down the Senate’s throat. The President cannot make law. The Congress passes and the President signs (or uses the pocket veto).

Pretty sure everyone with oil shares is coining it.

I was just thinking the same, and added to my post. Jinx! Buy me some oil shares!

Really, all it takes is the threat of war and millions are made. Coke for everyone!

Probably not the fizzy kind.

I’m against all wars. When the Selective Service was reinstated in '79/80 - the teenage me protested against that. Go ahead and reinstate the draft. It’s time for a true injection of American anti-war resistance like we’ve not seen since the early 1970s.

The Gulf of Tonkin II: Nuclear Boogalou is not a film I wish to view.

Iran cleaned Iraq’s clock in the 80’s with a fraction of the resources the US threw at Saddam’s regime. The old joke about the Iraq-Iran War was I came, I saw, Iran.

Quagmire wouldn’t even begin to cover what a clusterfuck invading them would be for the US and any allies stupid enough to go along with it.

I’m sure the conservatives love the idea of #stigginit to #libturds by sending kids from the coasts and children of registered Democrats off to the meat-grinder first. I’ve even heard a few conservatives chortling about it. If that happens, well, it won’t be good for the military. It won’t be good for the war. But it will be good for radicalizing a generation.

Who needs Congress to vote when you can declare an emergency and use that as an excuse to do whatever you want via executive order? \end{sarcasm}

Yes, I know it wouldn’t work; the courts would slap that down so hard the ghost of Trump’s father would feel it. But Trump probably believes that if you fling enough feces at the wall, eventually one clump has to stick.

the war will be short it’s just the decade long “police action” that really runs the tab up

Certainly, but don’t think Iran will just sit and take it. They’d be free to do whatever asymmetric warfare they wanted, and you’d probably see every port in the Gulf on fire. They only people who would profit from the tragedy would be the very Wall Street backed but not profitable fraking oil producers oh I get it now.

yeah, including shutting down the US power grid. we’d already be bombing them and I doubt we’d escalate to nukes. Russians could feed them some nasty 0-days

But I don’t think Russia would want to get caught up in that. They would be happy with using Iran just as a test ground for their wide array of anti-aircraft missiles.

I think just sending gas up to $30 a gallon would suit Iran well enough.

my cc issuer is going to regret that 5% bonus category

I can fathom only two reasons why yesterday’s phantom attack didn’t occur:

  1. Trump’s financial advisers gave him a spreadsheet showing a net loss in this instance of war (watch for Venezuala folks!)
  2. Iran or an ally phoned Trump and warned they’d provide evidence of his wrongdoing, hard evidence. Maybe the Russian urination video.

If he is a narcissistic sociopath, he would not have cared about “150 lives”.

But this will cost him immensely. His base will be slack-jawed about the whole thing, kind of “wtf?”.

I am cautiously happy about the outcome. But await further news.

Talking of that, check the price of electric transport. It is 1/10 of internal combustion. I didn’t know and have been checking it out of late.
