Fuck immigration, the way you described it. This isn’t 1944 anymore. Fuck the US ‘benefiting’ from immigration.
Immigration is a terrible thing; people have to move away from family, friends, places that they are connected with. Start over, learning a new language. Don’t get a chance to build a new community, as the poverty, social isolation is grinding.
The U.S.A should allow Puerto Rico, Philippines and others to become states.
All work visa requirements should be dropped between Europe, the U.S.A and Australia, New Zealand, Canada.
Why would they want to be a US state… If the US is going to become involved in a war with China, they would most likely defend the Philippines, too, because they’re an ally. They don’t need to become a state, and probably do not want to…
The same standard of living, and same type of legal system. Easiest place to start, and to get the momentum, and keep going… S. Africa, Brazil, Japan, Argentina.
Let’s learn from Brexit that there is power in unification and freedom of movement.
Our number two trading partner is Mexico and they are right there. Wouldn’t that be the most logical place to start when it comes to loosening up immigration restrictions?
Sure. By that logic add in Thailand, Japan, Israel, Ukraine and Panama- they’re all probably very interested in giving up their sovereignty to the U.S.
This inane line of thinking reminds me of Trump’s idea to sell off Puerto Rico and buy Greenland as if the sovereignty of nations was just a series of real estate transactions rather than questions that should be left to the people who actually fucking live there.
Many States need to be broken up to give the large Native Reservations their own state and therefor there own senator. Let the people that live on these reservations decide what they want to do.
The best way honor and uphold tribal sovereignty is not to compel Indigenous Americans to give up even more of their autonomy to the Federal government.
You really are not making the argument you believe you are… @KathyPartdeux is correct when she calls it an “empire of one country.” We do not have a great track record as an empire, frankly.
