The Catch-22 with drug research is just another sign of how dumb the War on Drugs is. I guess that, if I worked in the Enforcement/Incarceration/Slave Labour Industry, I might think otherwise.
Edited for a lick of goddam sense!
The War On (Some) Drugs was never about the evils of drug use:
(Ehrlichman said) "…We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”
I’ve heard it referred to as the Prison Industial Complex, but yeah, they know on which side their bread is buttered.
There are towns in Texas that depend on those prisons in order to survive.
And the gulags promised by Lord Dampnut would be welcomed in some areas, just for the economic stimulus.
Not to mention that a sizeable number of those prisons are private, so the owners are a source of bribes campaign contributions.
I’m using weed more regularly than alcohol right now.
I haven’t had alcohol in over 20 years. I didn’t have a bad experience or anything, although I was always a bit cautious due to my father’s alcoholism, but the effects just weren’t that enticing. It may have just been the associations I had with it, but I could never really relax and enjoy it.
Over this past weekend I had a 10mg THC gummy on both Friday and Saturday night – which I find pleasantly relaxing and a good way to turn down the run away brain processes. It’s a completely different experience for me and I know which one I prefer.
I’m also apparently capable of making good choices while stoned. I’m on an eye medication that I take by drops during the bulk of the day, but by a cream on the inside of the eyelid (yeah, I know) right before bed. Friday and Saturday I used the drops instead of the cream at bed because I had enough sense to know that trying to apply the cream would end badly!
Of consideration as well, California is trying to close the hemp based products loopholes.
I do hope that hemp and weed get property reclassified so that all of this nonsense is properly or better managed. Also really hope that better laws are made around drug testing, as an example right now i can’t even take CBD products even outside of work hours. If THC or CBD showed up on my drug tests it would get looked at in the same light as if i was going to work high, which is ridiculous.
Vote blue, because the GOP and Project 2025 will never allow that.
sorry, what?
47 states, the District of Columbia, and 3 territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands) allow for the use of cannabis for medical purposes.
this is state vs federal absurdity, right?
