An on-going thread of Trump's Legal woes

What’s the bar for a conviction? Just a majority verdict? Because if they’re hoping for a unanimous guilty verdict from a jury in Georgia, I don’t understand how they would expect that to be possible. But I also am unfamiliar with this side of the legal process, so I’m hoping it’s a failure of imagination on my part.

OT, but I do lurve me some Idris Elba. I’d seen him in The Wire (of course) and American Gangster, but I honestly didn’t know he was British until I watched Luther.

That’s all. Carry on.

For criminal trials, it should be a unanimous verdict. However, the jury will be from Fulton County, which is a very diverse and a predominantly blue area of Georgia. Voir dire will probably weed out the rare MAGA voter found in the greater Atlanta-metro area. There may be some independent voters on the jury but this doesn’t mean they will vote to acquit if the evidence says otherwise.

Most people didn’t; he’s very good at what he does.

Much like Fani Willis appears to be!

We STILL doing this? Really?

It’s Fulton county, the largest and one of the most diverse counties in the state. Trump got 26% in the county… We’re not all racist Maga fans down here, you know… The whole state went for Biden, in fact. So YES, a unanimous verdict IS possible in Fulton County… Especially if she manages to bring a great case, which I believe she can.

The same as it is for every trial.

Doesn’t matter where the trial is held, MAGAts are a minority, but they are found everywhere. I trust the legal team in GA to weed out the worst of the worst, and put forth facts. That’s all I can ask.

Edit dumb typo

FFS.

I don’t know why some folks can’t ever seem to have even a tiny shred of hope that just MAYBE not everything is completely fucked for all perpetuity…

So tired of anyone who wants to sink.

Yet somehow Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Mike Flynn & Steve Bannon all got convicted. And a ton of others. And Donnie has no one to pardon him.

I think he tried that in Manhattan- got slapped down quickly and hard.

Oh, I know - I’m from metropolitan Alabama, so I have a very good idea of the political breakdown in the bluer parts of southern states. What I wasn’t sure about was how rigorous the process is to ensure that a MAGAt doesn’t make it on to the jury. I said “I don’t understand,” not “I don’t think it’s possible.” I was asking for information, which subextraordinare helpfully provided - no need to leap down my throat.

Florida has a a much less MAGA state?

No need to be pessimistic; that doesn’t help anything.

Certainly didn’t mean to be. These indictments make me very happy, and very hopeful.

No point asking when it is
No point asking who’s to go
No point asking what’s the game
No point asking who’s to blame

Cause if you’re gonna die

If you’re gonna die, die with your boots on
If you’re gonna try, well, stick around
Gonna cry, just move along
