No way he could play a keyboard-based instrument with those stubby little fingers of his.
That poor dog.
The case has been scheduled to go to trial in May, but the date could be pushed back. A scheduling conference is set for March 1, during which Cannon could postpone it.
Gee, what are the odds Cannon will postpone it?..
Government lawyers handling the civil case said they were unaware of any plea negotiations between Trump’s former chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, as reported in the The New York Times.
Crack reporting from the NYTimes.
still hiring “only the best”, i see.
“Hey, these people are complaining they can’t watch the videos. We’re trying to send them, but at the same time, they’re trying, or at least this one particular important lawyer is trying to review the entirety of the discovery that the federal government is making via a hand-held tablet, which sounds like an iPad.”
Guess again.
Is it because he wants to get cover from judge Aileen Cannon?
“I hereby decree by the power bestowed in me from Godhead Trump, that he is eternally immune from all prosecution. And he does look quite a lot like Elvis.”
Good? Because the judge can just ignore the argument. Oh, wait, the judge is Eileen fucking Cannon. Bought and paid for.
This is fine.
Wishful thinking?
In case anyone has an interest, they’ll be live-streaming the audio from the SCOTUS hearings today about Trump’s ballot access. Here is the PBS Newshour’s stream, but you can probably listen on whatever the local NPR station is in your area, too:
Starts in about 10 minutes or so…
Starting now… @danimagoo, hope you’re able to listen to the livestream and give us your insights… They’re questioning Trump’s lawyer right now.
And the Guardian’s liveblog…
Listening now…not sure how long I can stay on right now. I have to leave to run some errands in a few minutes.
I’m sure the whole thing will be up later on, too… I’ll have to head out pretty soon myself…
If you’re driving, your NPR station will have the livestream, though.
Sotomeyer(?) Kagen now weighing in on “non-self execution”?
from the guardian liveblog, just FYI for us non-lawyer types:
At issue is whether that clause is self-executing, as in, whether or not Congress must pass a law to enforce it.
“statutory preemptive argument”?
Alito seems to be arguing that the very term “self-executing” is a misnomer and not the real issue. That the real issue is who can enforce this provision. Which…valid question, imo.
Ok, gotta run…will listen to it later and provide my thoughts.
