Was she in any of the other ones? I can’t remember. Just curious how she would be connected.
Although frankly, your original thesis was correct. The rest of the films cheapened the otherwise sharp first one. It was perfect all by itself. The follow ups felt like so much less.

She wasn’t in any of the others, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be in the next if they really wanted a direct connection. Considering the rich world they created, it would be cool to just follow another character living in it.
But you know what’s the worst thing they could do? Make her the sister-in-law.
